Photos of the Arizona & Pacific Railroad continued...

The first section of rail was laid on July 4, 2001. Like anyone learning something new, we experienced a learning curve in the development of our "gandy dancing" skills. In other words, we had the opportunity to pull some of it up and do it right the second time or in a case or two... the third time. Don't ask why we picked the hottest time of the year in Peoria to be moving gravel and laying rail - we are smarter than that - we really are. We learned a great deal, most of it the hard way and have become fairly skilled at laying rail at this point. We have received many favorable comments on the track and more importantly, the equipment seems to be happy with it.
